The Paissii Hilendarski State University of Plovdiv is the second
oldest university in Bulgaria. It is also the second largest with
its 8 faculties, 500 lecturers and 12 000 students. Its most dynamically
developing structure is the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences
which was established after the regime change in 1989. For a short
period the Faculty established itself as a prestigious academic
centre for training of economists, managers, sociologists and
political scientists. It is also active in international programmes
such as TEMPUS, SOCRATES and others and has already a long record
of successfully accomplished research projects in the field of
labour markets and social policy, capital markets and health management.
